Coast to Coast – Day 3 – 6/10/15 (Rosthwaite (Borrowdale) to Grasmere)

7.5 miles in 7 hours 50 min…

Today was a shorter mileage day, but much more difficult.  Very reminiscent of the Inca trail with steps up and down all day.  I can’t imagine walking through the Lake district of England in the rain, it would be so dangerous with the potential for injury with every step.  We have been extremely lucky.  This is the wettest area of England with over 180” of rain per year and it has been dry for us.

Rachel likes to navigate by following the book, Ron likes to rely solely on his GPS and I like to use a combination of both.  We disagree from time to time, but we have been able to find our destination each night.

We arrived in Grasmere which is a wonderfulDSC_0132 little town that has a book store, cafes, coffee shops, bakeries, a Co-op, and of course sheep located in a beautiful little valley.  We ate outside at Eva’s Restaurant and enjoyed the beautiful weather.   We stayed at the Ivy Dene in a tiny little twin share.  I slept like a rock!
